SCORE!!!

I just got back from Goodwill. They had a 99 cent sale today. I found four sweaters that I can recycle the yarn!!

Two tanks. The beige one is a cotton/ramie blend and the blue one is 100% cotton.

The color didn't turn out in this one..its more of a grapey purple. Big baggy sweater. I'm thinking this might work for the Cable Tee. The label with the yarn content is gone though. (it feels like an acrylic/wool blend though)

a 100% cotton sweater in winter white. If the purple wont work for the Cable Tee..this might.

I got all of this for $4 plust tax!!! Yippee!!
(also got a pair of damask drapes to use to make some SCA clothes out of .....not included in the above cost)

I am going now to work on the front of my daughter's T3 sweater. Did the bottom ribbing and a couple of rows before I passed out last nite. Time to get busy on it and get something done!

More later

A Finshed object and more doll stuff..

Blanket for Critter Knitters. One down...however many I can get made to go.

Heres the progress on the doll today. I must be nuts..I'm knitthg her a scarf from the cotton used for filet crochet on size 2 knitting needles.*sigh* I am actually thinking of knitting her wings (yes...she's going to be a fairy)

Doll head. For those of you who thought the doll looked strange with no head. Here is my progress on the head She has green beads for eyes and some pointy eyebrows and cute little heart shaped lips. Hair comes next. My sister has some doll hair so I may steal that from her..or if not..I have some pretty green roving with sparkly bits in it that would be pretty. I'm not sure yet. I will do what the doll wants. :) Posted by Hello

Here is the doll I've been working on.. Arms and legs and body done. Going to work on the head tomorrow. It's too late to work on it now, I'll screw up. LOL!! Posted by Hello

New layout

I really didn't like the old template/layout. I'm giving this one a test run.

I want to replace those three colored dots at the top of my page with THIS IMAGE but every place i put it in it is either covered over by the sidebar and the main text box. I could use some help. Any suggestions.

I have started a crocheted hexagon Critter Blanket for the Knitathon. I will probably finish it this weekend. Had to frog the broadripple sox because my sweet wonderful 2 year old pulled out all four needles. *sigh* I just can't manage to pick up stitches on socks. He pulled out the needle of the FINISHED back of my T3 but I managed to get it back on. YAY FOR ME!!

I have cast on for the front of the T3 but that's as far as I've gotten.

I did the doctor thing yesterday. Told her what's been going on and she gave me a prescription for a Migraine med and one fore Bextra for the body aches and pains. She then sent me to the lab for blood tests (thyroid etc I'm assuming) I can't tell if the meds are doing anything yet..but I did manage to get my kitchen floor mopped yesterday afternoon. They said it would take two days for the test results but since they close at noon on Friday I'm not expecting any word until Monday. Also..I won't hear from them if my tests come back ok. We'll see what's going on soon I suppose.

Oh..I started making a cloth doll last night. Yeah..I'm a nut case. I got the legs and arms all sewn up and the legs stuffed up to the knees. (I have to add pellets in the knees so they'll bend and I haven't done that yet.) The hands are looking wonky so I am going to have to work on them a bit more. I'll post some photos when she's a bit further along.

oh..and you might like to see Kindergarten Graduation Photos

I am just testing the post by email function of my blog.

Knitting Porn??

I am a member of the livejournal knitting community and THIS POST showed up there today.

People actually have a fetish about sweaters and scarves??

Might explain some of the peoples strange search strings lately.

Comments anyone??

To each his own I say..but I'd better not find pictures of my kids on any of these sites.

Photos that I promised.

I got this yarn at my LYS from the Bargain Bin for $1 a ball SCORE!!!!!!

T3 Progress

Pink broadripple socks (the color isn't really that neon..its just a hot pink color)

There...knitting pr0n. Enjoy!

I'm getting kind of Lax for some reason

I really wanted to try to post here at least every week day..but lately..I've been slacking. I don't mean to..but. Well..its something like this. For about a year now I have had severe fatigue and bone pain. I call it "bone pain" because it's not muscle pain and its not joint pain. ALL MY DAMN BONES hurt. Sometimes its worse than others and this week so far has been hell. I can get 12 hours sleep at night (which I am obviously not doing right now) and still take a good three hour nap in the afternoon (if the two year old will let me that is...usually I don't get one)

I had to see my gyno on Tuesday for my yearly and spoke with her about how I've been feeling and she made me an appointment with the General Nurse Practicioner there in the clinic. I see her next Wednesday. Oh Joy! Lots of lab work and blood tests. Well..at least hopefully I will find out what is wrong with me and get some relief. HOPEFULLY. I have no insurance and hope that this won't cost a small fortune or cause me to have to go on expensive medication to keep myself pain free. *sigh*

The only thing keeping me sane lately is my knitting and quilting and other crafts. I think that I'd just waste away if I didn't have that to do.

T3 PROGRESS I have worked the first decreases on the back and am working up to the shoulder shaping.

I started another pair of broadripple socks...these will be for my sisters bday on June 30th. Hot pink Cascade Fixation...dang LYS didn't have any varigated and I didn't feel like paying shipping.

I cast on for a pair of Opal socks in the "bumblebee" colorway..but I'm only like an inch into them. I don't have a full skein so I'm thinking anklets...bad idea??

I really want to make the Cable Tee from Ample Knitters, but I doubt right now I could afford the yarn to do it.

I found out today that my financial aid will be $5775 per semester for the first two semesters (not counting a supplement for child care that I have no idea how much that will be) I'm thinking maybe I can squeak out some yarn for a sweater. *grin* Just won't get that money until August. *sigh* Maybe I could set up a pay pal link for donations to the poor sad little knitter fund?? (really...that is a joke)

Well..I suppose that I should try to get some sleep. More blogging tomorrow...maybe even pictures

Knitting Progress over the weekend.

Even though I had to go to the family reunion I did manage to get some knitting done.

Dad's Socks - I'm back to working rounds on the foot now (again). maybe two inches from starting to decrease for the toe.

T3 - I am now again about 10 inches into the back. Anyone else tell me how long theirs was before they started the armhole shaping??? I don't want this too short because it's for my 13 year old daughter and they do have dress codes at school...but I don't want it too long either. I'll try to post a photo later today of my T3.

OH OH OH!! the quilt auctioned off for $105 Makes me feel special.

EDIT
Here are the photos I promised.

T3 back. That's a 14" needle for comparison.

All done with dad's socks..just in time for his birthday (May 20th)

*whine*

I have done something ot the right side of my neck and my right shoulder and arm. I can't turn my head to the right and have limitied mobility in my arn. Not to mention the fact that it HURTS!!

I think maybe I shouldn't knit till it feals better. But but...I don't want to not knit *whine*

Not to mention the fact that after today I will be quilting a quilt top that I have to have finished for the family reunion on Saturday. Won't be much knitting going on until that's finished either. *pouts*

Why do I get grumpy when I'm not able to knit?? Anyone else have the same problem??

I had to rip out one of my dad's socks that I'm making. I had gotten past the heel and the gusset decreases and was just knitting the foot and my two year old pulled out a needle. I totally SUCK at putting stitches back on..but I tried really really hard to no avail. RIPIT RIPIT RIPIT. I am now about 3 inches into the top again. *sigh* Hopefully I'll be able to finish it before his birthday on the 20th.

I need better eyesight and someone to show me an easy way to put stitches back on.

More later..its hurting my neck to type this. Damn I'm getting old!!

I LOVE GOODWILL!!

I'm just a regular posting goddess today...LOL

I dug around in some bins underneath some shelves and found a bag..it contained....

gotta have the post with the cat on the yarn. ;)

Fiber Fiber Everywhere

I said I'd post pictures of the angora fiber that I carded on Sunday.

and here is a closeup of the fiber

fibercloseup.jpg

For Reference each one of those is about 3 feet long. I have no idea how much there is there...but it's alot.

Next step: Dye

I am going to dye it using natural dyes like onion skins and apple peels (I haven't decided exactly which ones I'm going to do yet)

After dying I will spin it up and then knit some samples. I am working on this for an SCA A&S (Arts and Sciences) Project to possibly enter into competition. Wish me luck.

T3 Help

I made my T3 pattern into a word document and you can view it here I have never done a sweater before and could use some guidance. Could someone please check my math. *sigh*

This right here bugs me a little bit

BO Da__4___ sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st each end of every row until Db_3____ sts have been dec'd.
Dec 1 st each end of every other row until Dc_4____ sts have been dec'd.

how can you dec 1 at each end of a row and decrease 3 stitches?? Should that actually be decrease 3 TIMES???

Anyone with any better sweater making experience please point me in the right direction.

oh..and on another note. I borrowed a drum carder this afternoon and carded a pound of angora (goat) fiber. FLUFFINESS!!! Next...I am going to dye it with natural/plant dyes. Photos later.

UPDATE: Just cuz I forgot. I made these on Saturday

fingerlessmitts.

And I had to frog out T3 AGAIN. Maybe 3rd times the charm.

Steph

Saturday, May 01, 2004

Well..I started it a bit early

I started the T3 sweater for my daughter. I am making it out of lavender Lion Brand Wool-Ease. So far so good.

I know I'm going to be confused once I get to the armhole and neckhole stuff. Good thing this is a knit along and I can ask others for HELP!!!

I need to post my figures somewhere and see if I did all the math right before I get to the point where I need to start the shaping. Maybe I'll work that up pretty soon and post it.

Oh!! I am so excited I won the yarn at the contest over on JenLa I can't wait for it to get here to decide what to make. I love Chihuly's work and so does my mother who knew instantly when I showed her the photo who's work it was. *grin* I didn't think I would win. I knew I had the right answer but I figured there would be tons of other entries so I wouldn't win.

I wish I was either at the sheep/wool festival down in Huntsville this weekend or at the Ansteorran Crown tourny down in Huntsville this weekend. Being broke sucks.

Oh well...more knitting time *grin*

Merry Beltane to you all!!
