I went to the school today to talk to my academic advisor and the financial aid people etc. I now have a degree plan for a BS in history. Well...actually the full title is Bachelor of Science in History with Teacher Certification Degree Plan (Social Studies Teaching Field). whew. I am also regestered for my fall classes.

They are ....
Intro to American Government
World Geography
Grammar and Composition II
and
Critical Thinking

Luckily a bunch of my stuff from my previous college transferred over so I don't have to take stuff over again!! I'm full up on my science electives so I'm good to go there! I have a couple of forms to mail to the financial aid people and then I'll be done til school starts in August. Yippee....

I took my T3 with me and my dads sock with me but managed to get NO knitting done. *grumbles* I'll go knit some more later. I'm not used to getting up and out as early as I did today and I'm sleepy and have a headache. *pouts*

DONE!!

I finshed the cloverleaf socks last night

I really like this pattern...except that It works up so small. I did a cast on of 42 stiches on size two needles and they just about fit my two year old. (They are made for a 4 year old girl with a tiny foot)

I'd like to try some for myself...just not sure what to cast on for that. I'll mess around with it and see what happens.

No pictures today

I worked on the Cloverleaf socks and I'm through the heel and working on the foot. (I need the needles for the mini sock exchange LOL!!)

I have been spinning alot also. I've spun about 1 oz of the green stuff pictured in the previous post (its Merino, Lambs wool, silk and anjelica) and a bunch of some wool that I have no idea what kind it is. (I got it off of ebay ages ago and I don't remember now what it was) I think it was a pound of stuff and its all dyed different fall-ish colors. My mom gave me three balls of fun fur. She was going to crochet it but didn't like messing with it. Maybe I'll try to make more scarves to sell.

I need to work on my cardweaving but everytime I do....my wrists kill me after only a few turns. I can knit and/or crochet all day long and no problems...but try to turn those cards..OUCH!!

I really can't wait for the T3 knitalong to start. I think it's going to be fun. I've never made a sweater so I'm hoping I don't screw it up royally. (I started on it before I found the knitalong and have about 4 inches done..but I stopped so I wouldn't get too far ahead)

My sister loaned/gave me her bread maker and I made bread tonight. mmmmmmm I made that sweet Hawaiian bread. mmmmm It was great. I can see it now...I'm gonna get huge making loaves of bread every day. LOL (not that I'm not already huge)

If you haven't seen THIS you MUST go look. Read it all the way through!

G'nite!

Arrgh...

I think I'm not as good as spinning as I thought.

*sigh*

Please tell me what you think....

More sock goodness.

I finished this sock last nite for my dad.

It is Lion Brand Magic Stripe. As my dad is rather thin and doesn't have big feet. I just use the same pattern that I use for my socks...and just made the foot longer.

Does it look out of proportion to you??

I cast on for the second one last night and I am a few rows into the cuff. I am wearing my broadripple socks today. I love these socks. I think I am going to make some more fixation socks soon. (as soon as I can get the yarn *grin*)

I'm about 1/2 way through with my Critter Knitters blanket. Seems like stuff like that just doesn't hold my interest like socks and other things. Guess maybe if I did something besides garter stitch it wouldn't be boring huh??

Today is "take the two oldest to the dentist day" Anyone want to come take my place????? Oh well...maybe I'll get some knitting done in the waiting room.

I am alive...really...

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. It seems like this time of year is really really hectic.

I have started a pair of socks with Lion Brand Magic Stripes for my Dad's birthday. I am working on mini socks for a swap with the Sock_knitters Live journal community. (they are so cute!!! -- I'll post pictures when I have more done) I have started what I call my "hippie bag" out of some leftover cotton yarns. I'm just knitiing on circs til I nearly run out and then tying on another color and going on. (I knitted the bottom flat first). I had started the T3 sweater for my daughter but I'm holding off a bit because the knitalong doesn't start til May 15th. (If you are interested in the knit along ---- please click the link on the right side of my page)

I got my acceptance letter for college. I will be attending The University of Texas at Tyler in the fall. *gulp* I haven't decided exactly what I want to major in...but I'm kind of leaning toward education. I would rather teach college level..but you have to have a masters for that. I would like to major in history I believe. More than likely Medieval/Early Rennaissance history. So...my life is going to be in an upheaval fairly soon. I think it will be nice though. (I may see what kind of fiber related classes they have also *grin*)

Kids have dentists and doctors appointments and I have to get them both vision exams soon. BUSY BUSY BUSY.

Sipping Tea

and working on a kitty blankie for the Critter Knitters Knit-a-thon. Wally World had some Red Heart on sale for $.70 so...well..it will work. I may go back and get some more when I finish this one.

I'm using a dark green and grey. Two strands and size 13's. I'm doing it diagonally like a shawl, increasing every row and then I'll decrease after I get halfway.

Hopefully I'll be done tomorrow. I'd like to make a few of these.

I made this last night.

and just cuz I'm a dork

I started a sweater for my daughter using the yarn posted down below. I am doing T3 from Knitty. I have found a knit along but it doesn't start til May 15...hope I can hold out with my questions for that long...LOL I am about 4 inches up from the bottom of the back piece now.

I got a book in the mail yesterday. Knitting Goddess. I read a little bit in in and so far I'm liking it. One thing...It needs better photos of the projects in the book. There are photos on the Knitting Goddess Website, but I'd like to see some in the book. Theres also a KnittingGoddess Yahoo group. I just might join. (LIke I need another group)

Well..time to cook lunch. More posts later!

Yay for clearance sales!!!

I got this

for $10 at Hancock Fabrics today!!

I'm hoping that I can find a good sweater pattern that I can use 5 balls. *wishful thinking*

If ya know of any....please let me know!

I tried Intarsia last night. I made two of the star wristbands from Stitch N Bitch for my daughter.

This one I did first and its not so great.

This one was the next one and although not so great...it looks better.

They are done with hot pink cotton yarn and a lavender cotton yarn. The camera made them look al neon-y or something. They don't really glow like that.

I think I want to try some more intarsia. *grin*

Hehe!! I just had to share these...

Future Knitter...

and

He was throwing a fit and trying to take his sister's needles away..so I pulled out my size 13's and cast on a few for him and that is what he did.

I'm one proud mama!!
YIPPEE!!!! Done!!

Sorry its kind of blurry...that's what I get for letting the 13 year old take photos. LOL!!!

and these for cuteness sake...

That's my 2 year old Liam modeling the socks. They are a tad big for him..but he likes to pose.

I want to do some more of these socks...I love the fixation yarn. I just need to get the cash together to buy more yarn.

I had to frog out the hooded sweater I was making. Blah. I am going to work on the cotton scarf for my daughter and see if I can get it finished soon. It's in her school colors and I think it would be neat for her to wear to swim meets. (I also want to finish so that I can use that yarn to make my other tarot bag )

Happy Knitting!!

Day 4 Update

Well...I got maybe three rows done on the sock today. Tried in the movie but the 2 year old wanted in my lap so there was no way I could do it then.

Then this evening my sister and I went through some of the old photos I have of relatives. We are going to make another family photo quilt similar to this one.

We made this one in 2002 and donated it to the auction that is held at our family reunion every year. That one sold for $50. We are changing up a bit how we are doing this one. I am doing (with photoshop) colorwashing on the photos so that they look like the old time tinted photos and we are adding mini paper pieced blocks in with the photos. I think this year's will be much better.

I'm sure I'll post a photo when I get done.

I want to knit another bag for my Merlin Tarot and its companion books but my daughter is trying to knit a scarf on the needles I need to use. It will probably be a few weeks before I get them back. :(

I am totally considering bidding on a large lot of knitting needles on ebay or something. I just don't have enough LOL.
Day 3 Update: Sock Numero Dos

Here's as far as I got yesterday on the second sock. Pretty good I think considering we had to go to the grandparent's for easter stuff.

I'm not sure how much more I'll get done today. I am taking the kids to eat pizza and to see Scooby Doo 2. Heh. Maybe I'll take my knitting with me. I wonder if I can follow pattern in the dark??

Day Two Update

Well..I just finished sock #1!! It fits perfectly!! I love this pattern!!

Ok..so the broadripple socks are addictive

DAY 1 UPDATE

The colors are much better in this photo and are truer to what the yarn really looks like. I stayed up til 1 am working on the sock last nite (watching a really interesting show on the history channel) The ripple pattern is easy to remember so I didn't have to keep checking the pattern. I am 10 rows into the heel flap and will probably get the heel turned today. I will try to post updates daily about this knitalong sock.

I got my Fixation yarn this afternoon!!

I am now through with the first 12 rows of the first sock

I'm off to work on the next part.

I made a little Tarot Card bag today. I used that Bernat cotton that comes in the huge 1lb skeins. (I love that stuff)

I did I cord for the handle and used an antique button on the flap. This is for my Rider-Waite cards. I think i need to go whip out another one for my Merlin Tarot. :)

Here is a closeup of the basketweave stitch tarotbagback.jpg

I did manage to get a photo of my garden barrell.

Voila!!!

I got some bateries for the camera. :) So...pictures ahoy!!

Here is the pair of socks I made for my friend Becca

and them on my feet here...becca2.jpg

Here is a shot of the sock I'm working on for my friends little girl

I tried to take closeups of the cloverleaf eyelet pattern..but it didn't turn out really well.

closeup.jpg
and
closeup2.jpg

I went to Wally World this afternoon and got dirt and some plants. This evening the daughter and I planted one of my whiskey barrells with tomatos, cucumbers, a peppermint plant and a cinnamon basil.

I'll take a photo of my little garden tomorrow. Only one more barrell to fill. I am filling them 1/2 way up with packing peanuts to cut down on the amount of dirt I have to buy and to make the barrells lighter. I have to get more packing peanuts before I can do the second barrell.

The mango tea was yummy. Too bad I didnt get to drink the entire cup. I got called away to take a friends son over to my moms house so he could do some yard work for her. Oh well...I'll make some more here in a bit and relax and knit.

Tonight is UFO night on the LJ knitting community and I'm not sure which UFO to work on. These little socks are fun..but I have a shawl I haven't worked on in ages...*ponders* There's also that fun fur scarf..and the cotton scarf in my daughter's school colors...and...and......

Well, you get the idea.

Off to figure out what to do for my UFO and have a cup of tea.

Have a good night.
UPDATE: The heel worked. :) And my tea arrived!!

Off to sip a cup of mango tea.

Confessions of a sock addict....

I started THESE socks last nite. I first started them with the 36 stitch cast on and they looked sooo tiny. I knitted a bit to see and then tried the cuff on my two year old and they fit...but tight. Decided to frog them and go up a few. I cast on 42 stitches and did the one extra purl per pattern repeat. I actually think they look better that way. They have more stretch to them too. I think they will be fine for a 4 year old girl with size 6 feet.

I'm not sure about the heel construction in this..I'm used to doing short rows. I hope that I don't have to frog it and do a short row. Its this part I really have a problem with.

"*Slip 1, k1, k2 tog, k1, turn.
Slip 1, p2, p2 tog, p1, turn.*
Continue in this manner (between *'s, adding one more stitch each time) until all stitches are being worked. 10 sts remain. "

does that mean k1, k2 tog, ki turn then p2 p2 toge p1 turn then k3 k2 tog k1 turn??

I think it does..so that Is what I am going to do. If anyone has any suggestions or if that isnt the right idea..please feel free to let me know.

On another note...my tea from Adagio Teas is on the truck for delivery!! Yay for fed-ex tracking!!

If anyone reading likes tea and would like a $5 gift certificate, please let me know. :)

SOB!!!

My 2 year old broke one of my brittnay birch needles *cries* Luckily they have a guarantee. I have emailed them and hopefully will get a replacement. :)

YIPPPEEEE!!!

Just finished the other sock!! All done. Yay!! Dang camera batteries are dead or I'd post a photo. Hopefully I'll get some tomorrow.

I got an email that my yarn was mailed out today priority mail!! Should have it in a few days and then I can start the knitalong!

I made myself actually do housework today. I got up and did the dishes then swept and put in a load of laundry and then mopped. While the floor was drying i finally got on the computer and checked email. Then I folded the clothes on the sofa and FINALLY picked up my knitting. I knitted off and on alternating between switching out loads of laundry and folding clean clothes.

My house is slowly (think snail slow) getting back into shape. I think If I make myself do what needs to get done first..I will finally get organized.

I have a request to make sauerkraut and weenies for dinner...so...I am going to cook that in a little while.

I think I am going to start some kids socks from the leftover yarn from my other sock projects (for a friend of mine's little girl *waves at Kae*) whiel I wait for my yarn to come in. Off to hunt for cute patterns.

*Toodles*

In the Home Stretch!!

Finished the heel flap, turned the heel, did the gusset and I'm about 1/2 way done with the foot. I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

I think I may take my Dr. Pepper and go to my bed and read THIS. I have it checked out from our library and I have to turn it back in on Monday.

I need to write an article for our SCA groups newsletter and I thought maybe I could write one about the Bayeux Tapestry. I haven't written anything like that (report, article etc) since I was in college last *cough1993coug* and I figured it could get me in practice for going back to school in the fall. I may just end up writing a book review HA!!

I would also like to do some recreation of the tapestry..but I'm not *quite* there yet with my embroidery. More info on the Battle of Hastings can be found HERE and info on the tapestry can be found HERE.

Probably a daunting task...but oh well I think it would be fun. (put this under "future projects")

Still no delivery of the sock yarn..or my Knitting Goddess book...or my Adagio Tea order. *grumbles* In fact..I didn't get any mail at all today.

I need to start a pair of socks for my Dad for his birthday..but I'm not sure which needles I'll need for the Broadripple socks so I need to wait until they show up before I start Dad's socks. What a quandry. I guess I could just work some more on the afghan, or pull out the fun fur scarf that I keep getting bored with. I'm sure I can find some UFO or another to work on. ;)

G'nite fellow knitters (and non knitters)

I am sitting here knitting the heel flap on the socks I need to finish. I think heel flaps are boring LOL I like most of the rest of the sock part though. I have some cute pictures of my kitty playing with yarn. Wanna see em?? Sure ya do!!

This is Samhain Moonshine with pink fun fur.

And with green fun fur.

He really isn't evil. Really... he's not.

Off now to cook dinner. Hopefully I can finish this sock tonight and maybe my Cascade Fixation will come so I can start the KnitAlong.

Posty more later!!

**Toodles**

Monday, April 05, 2004

I sat tonight and watched LOTR (Fellowship) and worked on the squares for my sons afghan.

Three done so far..and they go really fast.

I think this is going to look really neat.

I have some green and burgandy and some black that I can use. I may have to go and buy a few more skeins so that I can finish it..but...who minds buying yarn??

I'm off here in a bit to work on finishing the sock posted below. I want to finish it before my yarn for the knit along gets here.
Well...guess you might like to know a little bit about me.

I am Stephanie, 34 years old...single mother of three kids. (13, 6 & 2) I will be going back to college in the fall. Not sure about the degree...but I'm going. (I don't know what I want to be when I grow up)

I have tons of hobbies. I am in the SCA I am currently the Virtual Scribe (webmistress) for our group The Shire of Rosenfeld. I am applying now for the position of Minister of Arts and Sciences and should be taking over that position in July and more than likely giving up my Virtual Scribe position. The crafts and things I do in the SCA include, knitting, illumination (charter painting at this point, spinning and general sewing. I have tried inkle and card weaving but I'm not that good at it yet.

In my regular (HA!!) life I do tons of crafts, knitting, crochet, quilting, scrapbooking, general sewing and I am learning how to spin.

Well! I started this blog today to kind of keep track of my knitting and other things that are going on. I've not ever done this type of blog...any help is appreciated!!!

I'd like to get this more customized so that it looks more professional. Ha!

This is one of the socks I am working on now. I finished this one the other day and I am working on the heel flap for the second one now.

I got the pattern online from the knitting community and now I can't locate the link. As soon as I find it I will post it here.

I want to start an afghan for my son (I just crocheted one for my daughter and he wants one now) but I think I want to knit his. I am thinking of doing THIS PATTERN I have a bunch of leftover yarn and I figured I could just do squares here and there and then put them together.

Well..time for this knitter to hit the sack!

EDIT: HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE SOCK PATTERN UNIVERSAL SOCK PATTERN
